XML News with Thumbnail & BIG pic support!

Here is a second version of my XML news. This one has a few more features. They include:

Fully XML driven
Unlimited title support
Unlimited thumbnail support
Full size images
Preloader for larger images
Plus much more.

My current design allows for 4 thumbnails. You can change it however you would like to add more.

The easing scrollbars adapt to the height of the text and title areas.

Only two main variables that you may want to changed can be found in the news movie Clip. Those would be titleSpacing and thumbSpacing which are just X and Y values for the space between each node.

I also added central easing for resize purposes as an added bonus.

I am in the process of making a thumbnail scroller. In your situation, just add more image nodes to your xml and then work on your own scrolling thumbnail window to load them into. I just put 4 in my example XML because thats all that will fit in the window. You really can have as many as you want. Like it says up top…unlimited

HI,, very nice i like it, but could it be possible to add a DOWN MODE to the left links so when you press a link it stays on its down mode letting the user now to what link the article corresponds after releasing the link???

Can it be easily adjusted so just the application part (without the surrounding area) to width of 585 pixels? And then do I have to do something special to get the images to be adjusted to a new size in the code?

I like it except for one thing – I can’t figure out how to do acute characters. I was planning to use this for a little personal project, but my native language is Spanish, and I can’t place characters such as “Ã¡”, “Ã±”, or “Â¿” in your XML . The parser just skips them, so the word “pÃ¡gina” is rendered as “pgina”. Is there a fix I can implement somewhere for this? I tried to add the missing latin characters into the list of glyphs embedded into the dynamic text fields but that yielded no positive result.

OK, disregard my last comment. I forgot to embed the “Extended” Latin characters. Yes, I’m ready to crawl under a rock. Nice file btw!

Are all the articles in one xml file or can there be multiple files? I would like one article per file with all of them references in a master xml file. Can it do that?

@liquid: Yes you can use it as a non full screen item..just remove all the full screen codes I did and set your stage size.

@dtrachtman: Its all one xml file. With modification is can be more than 1.

theres a problem if i change the file order fom where the thumbs and images are charged from? in other words if i put the large images in the thumbs folder and the thumbs in the news folder. At the same time i change the xml code..

Quick Question about the file before I buy it:

Does all this have to exist in a centered flash file separate from a web site? Or can I merely take the text portion (without the flash background and such) and apply it to my own layout?
