This is a very easy to use compact news ticker. It resizes to fit the width of the stage. It can easly be integrated in html.

Features list:

  • Unlimited number of news
  • Everything is tweened for smooth and nice movement/appearance
  • Easy to customize
  • Resizable, it takes the width of the Stage (in html, the width given to the object tag)
  • Keep track of where you are and easily go to next or previous headlines
  • XML driven:
    1. change headline color for normal state and over state
    2. define the delay between consecutive messages
    3. specify date/time/link/window for each headline. The link tag can contain JavaScript functions. The window tag is a parameter specifying the window or HTML frame that the document should load into. You can enter the name of a specific window or choose from the following reserved target names: _blank/_parent/_self/_top
    4. define the maximum characters that should be displayed by the news bar. If this number is reached, the text will be truncated (“Hello wo…”;).

i tried to embed this with swfobject but it keeps crashing the browser. any ideas why? – and do i have to link to the xml file in some way – where is it looking for the xml file? – is there something i can to tell it where to look for the xml file if stored elsewhere?

This is a very cool file but intergrating it into a web site is becoming a chore. In the next release it would be great to have a sample html file with the flash object embedded.

Hi,

I like to get some support here, as your forum doesn’t provide the kinda info I am looking for.

I was wondering why the file isnt masked, if one would use it in a dynamic flash project, you run in to issue, as there objects are on the stage, any way to mask it tru AS, cause regular mask apparently doesn’t work!

Furtermore I can it to load tru an MC (dynamic flash site)

This file does not correctly display even the most basic characters such as apostrophe. There is a post about this issue on your forum that is one month old and nobody has answered.

Please advise.

This file sucks big time, no support whatsoever if you have questions,

Why does it suck

Misleading desciption! It will NOT work in an dynamic setting, Just html Its not masked, (can’t mask it) so only works on white background.

To all wo migt get confused but Eskandelk remark….

As I have stated this is only easy if you use a simple html page where you wanne drop it into, for that it might be useful.

Please note, this ticker isnt masked, which is odd as it has moving objects, that are on stage

Cannot run in an external flash setting, or a flash site with a background

Besides support is NONE exsisting!

@dutchmarcus I think you are being way too harsh, nothing is misleading in the description, the file is dynamic, loads everything from external xml file, and it can be used in a flash project no problem, it resizes to the size of the stage by itself. Just because you are unable to customize it to your own needs doesn’t mean it can’t be done. With some medium AS knowledge masking is not a problem. When you buy stock files that you want to use in particular settings you should make sure they can do that out of the box or you have the knowledge to do the customisations yourself. Regarding support, it’s available for bugfixes and other problems with the file, not free custom work. I’m sorry if I sound a bit harsh as well but your comments are simply not fair to us and to this file.

it works great though one issue, when it first load, the first line would be at 3/4 below the bar, and when the next data load then it fits nicely and so on, what should i do to solve this ?

Hi, thank you for such a wonderful flash news Ticker.

I purchased the white version because it fit more to my website. I like the animation type in the black version. Is it possible to change the animation type so instead of the bouncing (top-bottom) it will read the text with the animation from left to right, just like in the black version?

I purchased it ! @Oxylus: If it’s sooo easy and dynamic, maybe you can tell me in a short way how to load this swf into a empty movie on my main-fla.

Yes, I know it’s not masked, yes I know there has to be changed some code-details.

And that’s my problem. Could you please help me in this matter?
