XML CALENDAR V2

HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesUtilitiesXML Calendar V2

A many more feature packed newer version my previous version.

Important:

I have made a few updates to this file, but did not upload it. I’ve included them in the bottom of this description. Any buyer who wants to get these updates can mail me from my profile page. Please leave a comment also here after you buy it, if you want the updates so I’m sure nothing is hppening in the dark… ;)

Features:

•Just drag and drop the file into your projects

•Single XML file that holds all the data and very easy to edit

•The text box in the event details section supports HTML text. So you can have anything from coloured text to HTML links. Go to year 1901, month JAN and click date 1 to check for yourself. Also has a scrollbar… (just in case you didn’t notice…;))

•Works from dates ranging from 1901 to 2099. Only the years listed in the XML file will be available for selection (not all the years from 1901 to 2099). This helps in choosing only the years that have events in them.

•Months and dates having events are highlighted.

•Mouse over the date to get the title of the event at the bottom

•Bottom event title bar adjusts its height automatically to the title string length

•Click a highlighted date to get the event details

•Complete help file included

•All the code is commented to help you understand easily

•Click on the ‘plus’ sign beside the year or month box to get a list of months and years that can be selected.

•You can find the current system date and time at the bottom.

The calendar can be extended to any date (not just till 2099). The theory of how the day is calculated based on a base date(here jan 1st of 1900 is chosen) is given here.

All the tweens in the file are done with mctween

Updates:

These are the updates I made after this file is uploaded. If any of the buyers want to have these updates, please mail me…

1. Changed it to have MONDAY as the first day of the week (not SUNDAY ).

2. Cleared a few bugs I found in the app.

3. Made an updated version that can handle empty image tags also which this version cannot do. So now you can have events without setting images for them.

4. Update that puts the weekdays (SU, MO… ) on the top insted of bottom

More updates to come… ;)

Hi, i’ve sent you an email.

What i was trying to say in the mail i sent to you is that all the details on the xml file is not being displayed on the calendar as i droped the flash file in my webpage. I guess i’m missing something vital, but i need a help though.

Very Nice…I definitely need a calendar like this…I’m just looking for 1 single more option iceonflames; is it possible to detect an anniversary event (based on same day, same month, different years, according to present date) and post them let say next or inside the calendar?...

and maybe a couple things to updates to make it 1 step closer to perfection!.... after you browse through the calendar…would be nice to have a button that brings u back to today current start date. also some people want it to start with Sunday, some with Monday…well for me it’s important to start with Saturday…hope it’s not complicated to update. ty and my Best

@lavigery – thanks for all the ideas. By anniversary events I guess you mean repititve events. As you might see, the calendar displays only the years that are present in the XML file. So if there are anniversary events, then every subsequent year has to be shown. That I believe will damage all the concept of the calendar. As a workaround, we can probably have color codes for different types or some indication of that sort. What do you say?

I’m actually working on a new version where you can resize the calendar easily from the XML file and also a PHP admin to manage the dates. May take a bit of time. If you have any other ideas, please let me know so that I can try putting them in the next version.

Hey iceonflames… sorry I didn’t express myself clearly…what I meant by anniversary events, like a flashback, that reminds the user what happened in the past in a day like today, of course only the events that you edited in the XML file can be retrived… give you an example: today is July 12…if there is any event that u edited correspoding to the 12 of july of previous years lets say July 12th 2006 and july 12th 1930 the calendar automatically detect them, present them or make a reference to them.

as for the Return Button….you put a “back” button in the bottom of the calendar that brings you one step back from where you browsed…I was thinking why not devide that “back” button to two or simply add another button that takes you to the very current date displayed in the bottom when you first open the file (like today month=07, year=2008).
