Tiny XML Pill MP3 Player

This is a tiny minimalist style xml driven MP3 pill sized player. The main purpose is a complete minimal design, for one mp3 to be repeatedly played. Perfect for background loops. The equalizer visual is a REAL equalizer, not just an animation, it’s reading the sound wave as it plays.

If you are looking for a full featured MP3 player rather than a pill player try this.

Features:

  • Drag and Drop for easy implementation in your project.

  • Only 35×20 and about 5 kilobytes.

  • XML driven song, repeating a given mp3 file, perfect for background loops.

  • The volume is remembered from the last time you used it, so a user only has to adjust your site volume once.

  • mp3 is streamed (played as they are still downloading) for fastest playback.

  • Equalizer is real, and shows the sound wave that is playing, not just an animation.

  • 100% vector, scalable, resizable, and can you can easily edit colors, gradients, etc. right on the vector graphics in Flash.

  • In addition to the drag n drop method, for advanced users this can be instantiated with script once placed into the library.

  • Also for advanced users, when instantiated with script you can pass a false argument and it won’t load the xml, and you can use it’s method playMP3 to point it at sound files, if you want to use this for a sound board or music player, etc.

  • Website Templates:

    Image and Mixed Media Galleries:

    MP3 Players:

    Updating and Upkeep Tools:

    Website Parts and Components:

    ITEM DISCUSSION

no. to me first has an equaliser i don’t need and second isn’t compact. i mean the same, real compact with a playlist, the ability of playing several mp3. you just could add next and previous buttons on the side.

well, I’m always looking for good ideas, and customers usually have good ideas of what they want :) So if you don’t mind I’d like to ask a few questions about what would and wouldn’t be important to you in the design your thinking of.

We’ve established you want the compactness. But you want multiple songs. Is the displaying of titles important to you, or a progress bar, or is there any other element that you’d wish for in the design? Or are you interested in just what you see here except with arrows and multiple songs as you described? If I have a bit of time and I can come up with a good functional design I may very well make it :)

    Cheers!

always good to be listened to ;)

so what i like in your product is the compact shape. displaying of titles is not important at all i prefer compact and i know displaying of titles is the opposite of compactness. progress bar neither, many mp3 players do that and have the titles too.

so i like what i see and i can tell you there are no products with this compactness and the possibility of having multiple tracks. streaming is important too.

also as2 or as3 as long as it is compatible with as2 pages ( i want to integrate in an as2 page)

    cheers !!

oooh, I can do what you ask, but I do AS3 , and that won’t work in an AS2 page, sorry. But I bet once I make it a freelancer would be willing to copy the design and make it for you custom in AS2 though :)

too bad for me :( anyway i’m pretty sure you’ll sell if you do it. can’t you make an as2 version too ? i think majority of people have as2 sites.

Hi, I recently purchased your full featured MP3 player and LOVE IT . I even built a php back end (hastily unfortunately) so that a client can upload/edit/delete songs from it.

Anyways, I was using WimpyPlayer (boooo! ;) on a tabled list of songs. The list has the name, artist, and an audio clip (if uploaded by user through back end). The wimpy player was small, about 15×15 and circular with just a play button that turns into a stop button once pressed. Sometimes this list gets to be 700 or so songs… not nearly all of them have an audio clip but technically the possibility is there for the client to have one for each and every song.

My question is… Is it possible to use multiple instances of this mini player on one page. Can it be used like wimpyplayer where you call a function with the song file passed as a variable? or is this like your other players where it is strictly XML driven.

If its not possible, I noticed you said you were up for ideas… well, on would be to make a player that can call a single file by passing the location via SWFobject or whatever other method

thanks again for your hard work, these are some of the only flash modules I’ve purchased that I have not even changed the look and feel.

p.s. The company that owns wimpy refuses to respond to any emails. Thanks for being so quick to answer.

It has a function called playMP3 that makes it play whatever mp3 file it is told to, and to stop the player at any time you can call playMP3(null) and it will stop playing. And the script was set up so that not loading the XML is extremely simple (turn one variable to false instead of true).

There is no specific functionality for multiple being used at the same time, but a system created by you or a freelancer could easily use the methods I just pointed out about to accomplish that using the player :)

If you have more questions, go ahead and ask, I’d rather you know what you are getting and know if it fits your needs and only buy if it does.

I wish you could have pause/play on the button as well :/

This one has it’s specific purpose and function, a more full featured one is here

I purchased given the comment of the item being 35×20 in size but do not have Flash to edit it and was going to drop the tiny button into my HTML , but when I resize the embed code, the player shrinks with it because it was evidently saved at 590×300. Is there something that can be done for this?

    Thanks!

    @ csgiles

By setting the embedding code’s scale property to “noorder” it would do this. But if that gives you any trouble just email me and I’ll size the actual swf for you :)

    Posted 2 months ago

It doesn’t seem to work with noorder at all. If I switch to noborder then Firefox works with it but IE does not. Very strange to me, but other than embedding flash, I don’t have a ton of experience with it.

send me an email (contact form is on my profile page) and I’ll make sure it gets to you at the size you need :)

hi, I have placed this on a html website which has about 6 or 7 pages and every time a new page is opened the player starts all over again. The music is set to be ‘on’ when the website starts. So for example on the homepage if you turn the music right down and then go to the about us page the music starts up again and you would have to turn it down again. So i have a few questions (1) is this correct, or have i loaded something up wrong? (2) if this is correct then is there an easy way to make it so that the player is consistent over the whole site? for example if i turn the music down on the first page and then navigate away to the second page the music will be at the same level. many thanks.

Sorry mrlreynolds, but that is the nature of HTML . When a page is left, it is unloaded and gone, and when a page is loaded it is brand new. Music players in general are more apt to be used in Flash sites, where the main part of the site stays put even as you change pages within it. You can accomplish this using frames in your HTML site where one frame stays put all through the browsing, but that is for you to develop, I can’t have the player do it for you.
