This is a cool effect and useful. 
This file includes an .fla and a .mov with transparancy. As an example i’ve imported the .mov in flash as an flv with transparancy so it’s easy to modify or replace the text

How will it look on a white background? Is it easy to change the color of the effects?

you wan’t see anything if you use the flv like this. But it’s easy to select the mc on the stage and select ‘tint’ from the color dropdown on the properties panel. Here you can change the color to something you like.
