Sliding Portfolio AS 3 /FLASH CS3

UPDATED 20 /03/08: now with customizable starting slide in the xml as well as mouse wheel support & html links and html formatting on the textfield as requested. Keep them coming! :)

all code is AS3 compatible!

all content loaded by an external xml file!

This is one great site/portfolio template, which is entirely coded in AS3 in order to be fresh for years to come!

FEATURES

  • This file resizes itself along with all of its contents so everything is viewed just they way it should. The stage will resize to the browser window size and everything else will position itself so the layout is exactly the same. Try resizing the browser window to see it in action! Its actualy scaling the image, not JUST resizing as most files of this type do, so your background never gets distorted!
  • Tested & compatible with screen resolutions of 1024×768 – 1920×1080 (FULL HD)
  • You can control the portfolio with both the buttons & the mouse wheel!
  • You can add as many slides/pages as you want (actually at this size, no more than 20-25 slides can be used at the same time. this is a fault of the flash player, not the files!)
  • Everything is controlled by an external xml file
  • You can setup the slide moving speed and the speed of the home-portfolio tween in the xml file, no need to search through mindless code
  • Published size is 40kb only
  • You can use jpg/swf/png files for the slides
  • You can use html links & formatting in the textfield
  • You can use videos/forms/whatever, no problem!
  • Very heavily commented code, there is at least one line of comments for each line of code
  • Very easy to modify, both graphically and programmaticaly, the code is simple (but efficient) in purpose, in an effort to encourage easy modification & study of how things work in AS3 as well as to prevent brain damage by trying to modify it!
  • Slick Web 2.0 design
  • PHP Contact form included which will work in 100% of web servers, along with a very easy to modify php file
  • Very extensive STEP BY STEP help file that will have you up and running within 5-10 minutes after getting the file
  • lightning fast support & email response time & requests

Thanks for viewing this file, i hope you enjoy using it as much as i did creating it!

Hi,

I like your sliding portfolio very much and would like to purchase this however I would need some very minor customization work. I don’t need the 1st screen “view portfolio” so I would like to remove that and also I would like to modify the size of the scroller so it will fit within an application I am building. I of course will pay for this customization work. Is this possible on your end? If so, I will give you exact specifications so you can give me an estimate. thanks…

Hello George, I just purchased this file, it is awsome! I like it alot. I sent you an email please review, I have some minor questions about how to put .flv flash video files into the slides… thanks

Very Good Template !!!!

QUESTION Just have a question about adding 6 SWF slides with video FLV inserted in SWF file using FLVPLAYBACK function?

PROBLEM Mr Geodeath, i tried to have all 6 slides play video, but it dosen’t work. All my swf files have the FLV playback function, the videos play play when i click on the individual SWF files, but when i add the SWF file names in the XML data file, I see only the background images in the SWF files, but None of the video loads. Up Please check it out.

This is a common problem. When you load flash files that use external resources like the ones you do (they load videos, lets say at the same folder with name video.flv) into ANOTHER flash file, the former file will look for the external files STARTING FROM the base path. Base path = sliding portfolio path. Take care not to bypass this instruction. In the above example where you have 6 swfs that play videos with the flvplayback component and each load videos from the same folder as the swfs themselves, if you have these swf files placed in the data folder, when using the sliding portfolio it will look for them in the BASE DIRECTORY .

So, either declare all your external data keeping in mind the folder structure looking at the sliding portfolio as the base file or move your files around.

Hello George, thanks for the feedback on this problem. I have checked my work over and over again, and I am almost positive that i am doing this correctly.

Could you maybe put a link up on this comment, showing me how you are able to successfully put videos in all 6 slides in you example… I have been fighting with this for over 2 days now, and its getting really frustrating for me.

I might be doing something stupid or wrong, but having you show me that you can do this, by adding video files, linked to the SWF files on all 6 slides.

Please if you can post a link with your example, this will motivate me to figure it out. And really thanks for all your help, you have been great to responding to these issues…..

Is not working on Opera Version 9.50 Build 10063, what we have to do ….?

Posted 19 days ago

Hi, last time i checked everything worked fine. Remember, we are talking 100% flash here, if something does not work on a browser, always try uninstalling/installing your flash player and/or browser or try on another computer with the same browser. I will check with opera again and let you know.
