Gallery v.2.0

Improved version of this one: Multilevel Image Gallery

  • Changed entire core of the application, now it’s more flexibile and much easier to be edited
  • Fixed elements reposition on Stage resize
  • Fixed some spacing bugs, elements are now shymetrically positioned
  • Changed XML structure, now the description is actualy the content of the picture tag and not an attribute
  • Added Next and Previous Image arrows
  • All graphics retouched
  • Description apperas only when the mouse is in the middle area of the image, and it scrolls the content automatically if not visible
  • If the thumb attribute is omited, on rutime, the thumbnail is created from the large picture
  • Added a nicer preloader
  • Added parent folder
  • Added “settings.xml” file where you can put custom strings for the navigation buttons

I have just purchased this as it is great for my project. Is it possible to minimize the HIT area of each of the navigation labels next to the folders. There is a huge HIT area and so far I cannot shrink it. I can decrease the distance between each folder icon/button but cannot change the hit area.

You should edit the Folder.as file. You’ll find there, just at the top, a line that looks like:

private var w:Number = 200;

Change that to the value you desire. it represents the width of the hit area.

Thanks Adrian – works fine now. I am wondering how best to incorporate this into my project…or should I now base my project around the gallery. Initially I was going to have this gallery load as an external movie clip – will this still work? I think the full screen option prevents this. Or, can I copy everything from themultilevel image gallery file into a new scene in my existing movie. I get the feeling I am going to have to copy scenes from my existing file into the image gallery file.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

is this the kind of file that uses folders and what ever is subfolders to put the photos into catagories?

Can you then upload to these folders and they are recognised and listed in each section?

Sorry for all the enquiries! When I use the ‘back’ and ‘return to root’ buttons, is it possible to have the first image from each folder cataegory open up? At the moment the last image opened stays open when going back through each folder.

It is xml based. You will also have to edit a xml file with the paths to the images.

@sparky I don’t have the source files at the moment, cause I’m using a diffrent computer. But that can be done easely. The xml file also needs to be modified. Please, contact me and I’ll add the new features for you

I still need to know if you can customize this so that the first image of each category opens up, whenever the user clicks the return button, or at least, the first image of the root page of the gallery. This is now really urgent. Thanks

@tacbob In the Actions.as file search for : function displayAlbum(... Inside this function add a line like: displayNearestImage();

Let me know if that works for you.

This works fine for one level only (just a gallery). When I click on an album to open a gallery, neither button loads the correct image. Thanks for your help

@tacbob An album can ONLY contain other albums or galleries. NO images. Images are only stored in galleries. That is the way it works. That function displays the nearest image it can find.

today I’ve bought your gallery. At the first sight its very fine, but I have a big, big problem with some german characters like ü, ö, ä, ß. I think the problem will be still the same for all not-english spoken buyers. Can you fix it? many thanx Christopher

Great gallery and just what I need. One thing I need help with as I do not have any flash programs. Is it possible to have it to where the images can be stored in different folders under the images and thumbs folder? I have over 10000 photo’s for a photographer that would be much easier if they where in different folder. Let me know if this is possible.

Trying to make the html page as compact as possible, but there’s a large amount of stage padding at the top of the image and below the image (right above the thumbnails and image path area). Is there any way to control the padding surrounding the objects?

Also, I noticed there was an end fade on both ends of the thumbnails that gives it a fade when you scroll through a large array of thumbnails. However, when you change the background color the fades are very apparent as just gradients going from gray to opaque. How do I change the color of those fades, or is there any way to just remove them? I went through the fla file and couldn’t find the objects.
