Page Resizing

To adjust page size you will have to adjust a few movie clips. All can be found in your library. Here are some tips on what to do.

1. “Spread Background” mc. Change the graphic inside this clip to the new page size

2. “Spread Size” mc. Change the graphic inside this clip to the new page spread size (2 pages side by side)

3. Inside “Spread” mc move the “Page Corner” mc’s to the edge of the page spread.

4. Also Inside “Spread” mc, you will see a layer labeled “Spreads”. On that layer is a mc called “Magazine Spreads”. Position that mc’s x co-ordinate exactly half the width of “Spread Size” mc. The y coordinate should be 0.

5. In the library click inside the movieclip “Spread Change Mask” and change the width of the red graphic to your total pages width. Forinstance if one of your pages is 400 px wide, the red graphic should be 800 px wide, then realign it to the right. If your pages are significantly taller also increase the height, and make sure to vertically align center.

6. And finally you will need to adjust the following movieclips to match your new pages height, “glow mask” and “shadow mask”, and make sure to vertically align center.

Hey Rob,

Thanks for creating this file.

I had one issue, and it happens to be the email form. I have read the recent problems experienced by another buyer. I have done everything according to the instructions but still no emails are going through. And yes, I did double checked if my webserver supported php 5. No luck. Please help.

lexo787-First open magazine_flip.fla, then open your library (Ctrl-L). Every movieclip you see with a Linkage identifier, right click on it, select “Linkage” from the popup menu. You will get a “Linkage Properties” dialogue box. Uncheck “Export in the first frame”. Leave “Export for Actionscript” checked, and press ok.

Then on the main timeline create a new layer, insert a blank keyframe on frame 2. Create a new movieclip on this blank keyframe. Set the movieclip’s alpha to 0. Inside this movieclip drag all of the movieclips from the library with a linkage identifier.

Hi,

I have a question. We have bought the flip magazine. Very nice. We are trying to build an index page within the movieclip “magazine spreads” which should click directly to a spread page. Instead of clicking through all pages. I have made an button layer in the mc on the specific page. I managed to click to 1 page, but we need to see the spread (2 pages next to each other) Can anyone tell me how to realize this in actionscript 2.0.

robwes19, When I resize the document to be wider why does it get pushed to the right. It seems like it should remain centered within the screen. Can you help?

18Stone-after your done resizing according to the instructions, you might need to reposition the page flip. Inside “magazine_flip.fla” go to the layer “Spread” then reposition the movieclip “Spread”.

Hi there,

I’m a bit inexperienced, but this looks fantastic for my needs. I am designing a prospectus for print which I want to convert into a page-turning ebook. I have CS4 – can I use this to convert my pdf to a page-flip book, and still keep clickable links (to external and internal pages) within the document?
