FOG VIDEO EFFECT

HomeBrowse CategoriesAnimationsRaster AnimationsFog Video Effect

This is a 10 second, looped .flv file embedded in an .swf that simulates fog. Simply copy/paste the fog .flv into your own movie to add a very nice fog effect.

ITEM DISCUSSION

It looks great but I wasn’t able to use the .swf in any program I tried and I couldn’t open the .fla file in Flash. I keep getting the message “file type not recognized”. Is this because it was created and output with a newer version of Flash than my programs use?

Thanks for purchasing the file! As per the description and the requirements on the right-hand-side of this page, this file is Flash8+ only. Sounds like you are trying to open it in an older version of Flash. You can download a 30-day trial of the latest version of Adobe Flash completely free from www.adobe.com. Hope this helps!

it’s sad… i’ve bought it cause i was thinking that i’ll be able to put some text behind the fog, like the “fogvideo” but we cant.. :-(

but the effect stil hot.. even if i cannot use it

Thanks for purchasing the file! You ARE able to recreate the “Fog” text, here’s how: You will need at least Flash 8. Create your text on the stage. Select the text and convert it to a movieclip. Select this new movieclip and, in the properties window, choose “Overlay” in the Blend drop-down. Voila! :-)

Thanks for you help:)

Hey eDub read this like he said above,

You ARE able to recreate the “Fog” text, here’s how: You will need at least Flash 8. Create your text on the stage. Select the text and convert it to a movieclip. Select this new movieclip and, in the properties window, choose “Overlay” in the Blend drop-down. Voila!

instead of the text just put your own image you made and do as he says above, im not a flash guy but thats very easy to understand.

Great work by the way !

Hi can i lighten the fog by any chance? i am working with a dark logo and it is getting a bit lost in the denser bits, great work by the way works otherwise like a charm.

Thanks Rae

@rdspence” Absolutely! Simply change the alpha value of the movieclip as follows: Select the fog video movieclip on the stage. In the properties inspector where it says “Color”, select “Alpha”. To the right of this field is a percentage, simply reduce the percentage amount to your desired setting.

Hope this helps! :)

Can this be resized larger than it appears in the demo? How about reshaping into a skyscraper possibly?

Oh sorry, one more question.. Can the fog “roll” be set more random? Right now it seems to come from one direction and I would like to see if it can float in from different directions simultaneously?

Posted about 1 year ago

@franki This is a video file embedded in a Flash file so the direction cannot be dynamically changed as such. I’m sure you could try flipping it vertically and/or horizontally though. You can resize the effect yes, but bear in mind a little quality may be lost if you are going to increase the dimensions of the video substantially. Shouldn’t be too bad with an effect like this though. Hope this answers all your questions! :)

Thanks scottwills!

Oh I see, I didn’t notice it’s a video (thought it was straight flash). So the file won’t take a hit in quality if decreasing the dimensions in anyway?

@franki Correct! :)

is it possible to get the flv alpha encoded, to be more pratice to integrated perfectly. Good work!!!
