CMS News Version 2…

Login Instructions

1. expand the news viewer to state 2 or 3.

2. Hit the 7 key five times to reveal the login panel

3. Username = flashjunkie Password = cmsnews

A content managed news section with user friendly admin interface allowing users to edit, add or delete posts on the fly.

New Features.

1. No longer a full screen file so can be dragged and dropped into existing projects much easier.

2. Made easier to modify, modifying only 3 or 4 movieclips can completely modify the look.

3. Hidden admin panel, hit the ‘7’ key 5 times on your keyboard to reveal the login area.

4. Smoother faster better… animations are smoother snappier and give a better look.

5. 3 states…

State 1 – News Ticker, the titles of the stories cycle in the black area taking up less room, upon click of any news title expands the panel and shows the relevant item.

State 2 – Thumbnail and story title, view 5 posts at a time and click More, to read the full Post

State 3 – Full Post, full image size and view the post.

6. Sleeker, cleaner design.

Old Features

1. All the old functionality has been refined and kept in place.

2. Login to Add, Edit or delete posts including picture upload and automatic resize.

REQUIREMENTS

A Server with PHP4 or above and a MySQL database Flash 8 or above (for editing basic variables, very simple) A little common sense.

The download pack contains 2 zips. One for PHP 4 and one for PHP 5 , check with your hosting provider to see what version is running on your server.

Support

I understand that to some people the process of setting up a database and editing php files may seem like a daunting task, but everything is explained step by step in the help file, and i am also available for additional support if you run into any trouble.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO HIGH TRAFFIC ON THE FILE , IF TWO OR MORE USERS ARE UPLOADING NEW POSTS AT THE SAME TIME THE IMAGES MAY GET MIXED UP , THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE NEWS VIEWER IS PURCHASED AS ONLY THE ADMINISTRATOR WILL BE ONLINE SO THERE WILL BE NO CONFLICTS .

Hi.

I’ve bought your CMS NEWS VERSION and I have a question. Long one… Sorry to bother…

I’m using the version that runs on a server with PHP version 4.. and Flash 8 with AS2 .

Now, in the fla file “cmsnews2_AS2.fla”, in the mc called “cmsnewsmainbg_mc”, in the input/dynamic text boxes, with the instance name “author_txt” and “title_txt”, how to change the number of characters avaliable and change the “title_txt” to multiline (I’ve already done that on flash but doesn’t work)?

I suspect that the solution is behind the database created and the restrictions that the tables inside the database have.

Can you confirm me this? What I’ve to do to change the numbers of characters restriction? Can you guide me through phpMyAdmin to change this restrictions?

And yes, on the database I have the tables called “cmsnewsv2” and “cmsnewsv2login”. When I am inside the table “cmsnewsv2login”, in indexes appears a red warning saying that “No index defined!”. Is this important for the question?

My PHP version it’s 4.1.22

The warning is not important, as long as the file is working thats fine,

You simply need to extend the size of the text box and set it as multiline, also check the maximum characters field is not set too low.

Hello , FlashJunkie having probs with making this work on server. *IT Works within flash when i hit CNTRL + ENTER .. and i am able to login and add a new post upload pics and ALL of that works…..but when i uplaod the files to my server (hosting with 1and1) it DOES NOT work.. it says ‘UNDEFINED’ .

i AM USING PHP 4 AND MYSQL IS VERSION 5 .

Again IT WORKS IN FLASH … so do you know what can be wrong? can i give you my FTP so that you can see what is wrong please?

I cannot get this thing to work…...Ive spent hours trying….the directions seem simple enough…..I see other people have similar problems about not being able to log in…..but I dont see their questions answered….it my be something stupid…..but maybe if the answer was posted on this item discussion board we could figure it out without having to e-mail you. My favorite answer on here is “follow the instructions, i have just downloaded the files again and checked them, THEY WORK !!!!!” Ive followed all the instructions…...Im over it…....

I did e-mail you and your girlfriend e-mailed me back saying you where in the hospital. But instead of trying to give me some tech support you post the comment above….(after pulling down my comment)......and I didn’t disrespect you or your file…...I criticized how you don’t post the answers to peoples questions. Or have a FAQ ’s…...or most common problems…..nothing…so here i am 20 days later….your post above was 17 days ago…..I e-mailed you yesterday again…. no response…..

If you don’t want to screw around with tech support cause its a pain in the a-hole or whatever …..give me my money back.

everscarface, i have more important things happening in my life at the moment than someone who pays $20 for a file that should have cost them 50 times that who thinks hes number 1 priority.

I have had MAJOR surgery, either be patient and i will get back to you to help you resolve your problem, or pick up a book, learn some PHP and figure it out your god damn self!!!

To any other people wanting to buy this, i am recovering from major surgery, i will try and get the preview for this, and version 1 online in the next couple of weeks. As for any support questions, i will try and get all your emails answered in the next couple of weeks too.

flashjunkie, if you can get it working on your server , then prove me wrong, and get it working on my server.

I have attempted to ask you nicely, AND i have followed ALL directions, several times,, started from scratch, and tried it again, IT DOES NOT WORK .

I never asked you to modify anything… I ONLY ASKED FOR SUPPORT TO GET THE FILE WORKING . You should support this simple task, since you are the author of the file.

That is your reputation,, you want people to buy your file,, then when they do, you wont help them get the file working.

It is the simple principle.. Instead of me wasting time posting this comment, i could have rated you a 5 and given you good feedback for everyone else to see.
