Advert Breakout | Sticky Notes Edition

Advert Breakouts are a very easy way to create adverts, announcements and notifications for your own Web sites and clients, allowing you to dynamically load Flash content above any HTML content. You may have seen this effect used for advertising on numerous Web sites. You can now deploy the same effect for yourself very quickly and very easily.

There are TWO yellow sticky note examples I have created and provided with this example, but you can use whatever Flash file you want, so use your imagination! The Sticky Notes edition of Advert Breakouts allows you to quickly deploy a yellow sticky note over the top of your own Web site in order to advertise, promote a product to your users or simply make an announcement to visitors on your site. It is less intrusive than a browser pop-up window, and is a fantastic way to get a user’s attention. It also comes with a user-friendly exit button “X” so users can quickly close-out the advert after they have read it. Here are a few ways you can customize this file:

  • You can use whatever Flash file you want.
  • You can change the x and y cordinates where you want your Flash file to load above your HTML Web page.
  • You can use any Flash file of any size, although I hope you like this sticky note edition and hope you find many occasions to use it. :-)
  • You can manipulate the way this sticky note animates in simply by adjusting the animation in the timeline within the Flash file.
  • You can add anything you want to your Flash file and it will appear above the HTML . .swf file animation, .xml text, .flv video, a company logo, product information—just use your imagination!

Please note that the preview of this file is a video recording of how Advert Breakout (Sticky Notes Edition) loads over the top of HTML content. At some point in the movie you will see how I can highlight text just as you would in a HTML document to prove how the flash content dynamically loads above the content of your HTML page. The reason I am using video to showcase this file by the way is so no files get stolen as I am obviously using HTML + CSS content. The files you purchase are guaranteed to work exactly the same way in your browser with HTML content as you see in this video preview. :)

Cool stuff. Good to see people being creative with their files.

I did a forum post not that long ago aimed at a similar idea to this http://www.flashden.net/forums/thread/ive-seen-nothing-like-this-on-flashden-yet-be-the-first-and-boost-your-downloads/5332?page=1#43754

The more ways of presenting and promoting in an ad sense is great. Keep them coming.

ronflash: I have re-saved the files as Flash 8 just to be sure and I have uploaded them back to Flashden, please try downloading your files again! :)

PerryMason: Yeah, it’s one big conspiracy theory, everyone in the world can see the preview except for you. :D Seriously though, not sure why you can’t see it, try a different browser or make sure you have QuickTime installed. FYI —The preview is a QuickTime movie.

Question If the main page and the pop up add both have audio can the pop up be set to override the main page’s audio?

Posted 2 months ago

Where is the close Flash Player command though? I put a command in the SWF to play a Javascript command to close the div tag that holds the Flash movie, but it gets blocked. Any solutions? If nothing is done it blocks you from clicking or rolling over anything that might be under the Flash movie area in HTML . I notice that obviously many ads can do this correctly.

Right now the Sticky goes invisible, but it’s still there.
