I want to ask again just to make sure on legal issues.

If I create a web application (my product).

Bought a Royalty-Free Icons, Flash Movies, Stock Images.

Well does this allow that these be a part of my web application ?

When I ask this I mean the web application will include only ready SWF movie files (gallery, news etc) that are part of web application and not delivered as standalone swf movies and not the source code (not FLA )?

So far I know if I buy royalty-free icons I’m allowed to include them in my web application as a part of GUI or whatever and deliver it with my web application.

Can You explain this ? I would like to know what is legal in this case ?

Other members will have to verify this, but im pretty sure that unless your are the original copyright owner or you have a license that specifically allows you to resell the product you cannot include other items you have bought in your own work.

I think you’re right, you need a resell license or let the users download the icons themselves.

For icons i got clear that they are allowed for use in commercial products. You are not allowed to sell icons as a standalone package.

Else why should someone buy icons ?

Example I make a complex CMS so is my product. I’m not reselling a product. If this CMS contains integrated photo gallery with my own web admin. But I want to present pictures as a slide show so the question is can i include a royalty-free flash movie SWF that will make use of photo gallery and present them as a slide show.

Or Royalty-Free means you can use this in projects for your clients, but you can not deliver it with your product ?

The Royalty-Free term is not clear that much ?

Change the colours move some stuff it’s not exactly ethical but most designers have a vector stock library that they manipulate like this. Brushes and other things like that it is such a grey area. I think legally you would be fine, but here the staff might not allow it.

I’m not advocating it merely stating a fact of life :)

OK 1. But buying royalty-free stock images, icons, flash components as I understand allows you unlimited use of these for your projects and projects you make for your clients, without need paying more royalties. I think this is clear.

But is not clear if you use any of them as a component in your products how legal it is ?

Another conclusion according to point 1. IF You may not deliver or include the component and sell with your product. However you may do a project job to customize it and add flash component as example gallery for the client and this would be ok according to point 1.

This is my opinion, what do you think ?

And if you buy brushes, etc i think you can use them in your commercial work but you can not sell them as brushes …
