I have a movie clip that acts as a button. Everything works as it should except I cannot get the sub link buttons to work. The problem is, when you mouse over the word ‘button’ I need for the masked area (bar) to stay open until you mouse off the entire bar, not just the word, so I have tweened the invisible button to match the size of the bar that moves in. This works well except when I add buttons to that area, they wont work (because the other button is on top of them)

What about placing the sub link buttons above button layer?

Have you created a hit state,for the button?

yes, if you mean the sub link button, I have. However on the main button is actually a movie clip.
