Many buyers still use Flash 8, Flash CS4 saves only CS4 and CS3 format.

What should happen? Should everyone who gets Flash CS4 also keep flash CS3 on his system to be able to save to Flash 8? Or should we expect that the buyers will get a newer/latest version?

Oh dear that’s not good. It should be able to go back to 8. They cant expect us to be doing this when they are bring out new versions of flash every other year.

Also if you are using flash player 10 you going to have a problem to view flash 8 file and under.

CS4 I great but from here to publish your file in Cs4 will be a long process until flash will adjust the new change .

I think when people aren’t able to see a couple of sites and they get the message “you don’t have the latest player”, they will download the new player.

But with the flash versions you have to pay a big amount of money(it is a big amount if you only use it to change a couple of fonts and colors of a file)... A solution is that everyone massively changes to AS3 and buyers are forced too get a newer version of flash :P. But then again I don’t know how fast the next version will come, in my opinion CS4 is coming too fast. But then we will have the same problem (CS5 probably won’t be able to save CS3 format).

I think its becoming into a mess zone, what drive me nuts is the flash player 10 don’t support some lower version for example some site`s (lots) are forcing my to install lower version of flash player maybe its a bug I don’t not yet, its defiantly something Adobe have to work on .

I think CS4 is a down boomer for those who use AS2 , so many new element in CS4 are not available for AS2 I think CS4 is defiantly a kiss of death for AS2 coders and it’s to bad.

The way I see where flash is going I think its going to be a very slow adapting, for example the place I teach only now we are opening the first course for CS3 in my country, its just show you how slow things are moving on the global.

I am testing CS4 for the last 4 weeks and its amazing but I don’t see my self working with CS4 for the next 12 months unless I am building full projects from scratch then I don’t have any problem working with CS4 .

Still, the deferential is not so big ,anything you do in CS4 you can do with CS3 except from the 3d, see what happen to Microsoft with Vista I think Adobe will face the same problem this time .

I think even the 3d doesn’t add too much in my opinion. It’s nice for simple animations, but if you want to show complex things, you are forced to create your own mini 3d engine. As far as I know it doesn’t even support changing depths when a movieclip turns around. Other engines like papervision 3d are much more developed.

Also what you are saying I also see at my school they got the CS3 license since september 2008. I am not seeing them buying the new version so soon.

I am really liking the new interface and some new options, but I agree that the release is too fast.

I have not used CS4 , but I assume you can still choose to create an AS2 project or an AS3 project just as you could in CS3 .

Is this true?

If true that would just mean that flash 8 was dead not AS2 .
