i know this damn program inside and out but for some reason footage is flickering when I RAM preview and render. It looks like the brightness is flickering and i cant seem to figure out why. video codec? settings? IDK . If anyone has some insight that would be great.

I had the same problem a while ago…I think I ended up re-installing the program, just because it was such a huge pain…but check your preferences…see if you have it set to skip frames, and the quality of the ram-preview.

I also noticed that on some of my projects, the final render, randomly will have some wacky white frames every once in a while, that appear like a strobe effect, yet I didnt intend for it to happen.

what version of QT are you running? I have had issues with QT and AE in the past.

ummm, my quicktime now is not the most up to date one, because I heard there were some serious issues with the newer quicktime update and AE. But apparently those have been resolved, I am just lazy, and havent updated yet.

there was a few versions ago. AE would go into chaos mode. I called adobe and they had this ass backwards way of reverting QT but it crashed my whole system and i had to wipe the machine. Good thing all my work is on a fibre server so i didnt lose anything. It was not pretty though.

depending on the output format, QT will do that to you.. especially in .avi format.

Was just arguing with a client, because he kept providing me quicktimes in the Avid format…and even though I consider myself a “professional” editor, I HATE avid, and refused his videos until he gives them to me in a standard format.

A little un-related…just wanted to complain a bit.

yeah i just worded with an LA editor turned director and he was an old school AVID guy and im FCP . He was trying to talk up the AVID but if the AVID was so good they wouldn’t be in a financial slump.
